Peakes Coaches was established in the 1880’s by Edmond Peake, providing horse drawn transport within the Eastern Valley of Blaenavon, taking mail by pony express from Newport to Blaenavon. Coal miners would also catch the pony express to the coal mines whilst local people would travel by horse and carriage on day excursions.
With the introduction of the motorised vehicle, Edmond bought the first 14 seat Ford Model T with a fold-back canvas roof capable of travelling at speeds as great as 14 miles per hour! Edmund's three sons took over the business and expanded into local bus transport servicing Trevethin and Pontypool in South Wales, a tradition that continued until the late 1980's. Peakes Coaches is now run by the 5th generation of the Peake family, operating a large fleet of modern coaches travelling as far as Europe, providing a professional service to all of their valued customers. The Company policy is to provide a quality service. Peakes is able to offer customers a well maintained clean vehicle, driven by a highly professional driver that will be CRB checked and a holder of an NVQ certificate.
There is no question that safety is always the top priority when Peakes transports all of it’s passengers, but in particular, the safety of children. Schools or youth groups planning a trip are more than welcome to contact Peake’s friendly and helpful team to discuss their requirements without any obligation to book with the Company. Highly recommended by their loyal customer base and with years of experience in catering for the needs of children and young people, Peakes can offer a really reliable, safe and enjoyable journey to be remembered.
Peakes luxury coaches can seat up to 57 people and have toilet facilities and DVD entertainment at no extra charge. Air conditioning is available on selected coaches and all of the Company’s skilled drivers are uniformed and known for their courteous professionalism.
