Viking Travel was first established by John Lloyd in 1926, and has been a prominent feature on the roads of South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire, West Leicestershire and into North Warwickshire.
When John retired in 1989 and in December 2011, Solus Coaches in Tamworth bought the Company. In July 2015 Viking Coaches was aken over by the Garratt family from Leistershire, Paul Garratt and his two sons James and Adam. Paul has been in the coaching industry for more than thirty years and saw the opportunity for his sons to be involved in the industry he loves.
Drawing on Paul's wealth of expertise, James and Adam's ambition for Viking's future looks exciting with them instantly rebranding Vikings Coaches to Vikings Travel. A newly designed livery completes a fresh look for the fleet!
The Company service home to school contracts for the local county councils of Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire. Viking Travel also undertake private hire, swimming contracts and outdoor education centre visits. Vikings are part of the transport network for the local Colleges, Academy’s and Private Schools.
Vikings work with a large number of tour operators and operate the contract for Travelstyle Holidays. Some of the fleet carry the Travelstyle livery. Shearing’s Holidays and TUI Group Travel are another two companies Vikings undertake work for with our coaches travelling across the United Kingdom and far into Europe on a daily basis.
Viking Travel can offer a range of vehicles with seating capacities from between 16 to 70. Our modern, excellently presented fleet are maintained to the highest safety standards and are driven by experienced, professional, uniformed drivers who are CPC trained with NVQ qualifications and D & B checked for suitability to work with children. Our drivers each hold a Company photograph ID badge.
