Drivers EYMS and its coaching arm East Yorkshire Coaches employ 430 full and 25 part time drivers.
Training Drivers are trained in on-going driver CPC modules including First Aid, Customer Care and Disability Awareness, Defensive, Safe and fuel efficient driving, Working Time Regulations/Drivers’ Hours, Tachographs, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Reversing, DDA/Wheelchair Lifts, Legal Awareness, Incident Reporting/Documentation, Basic Safety Checks/Mechanical Principles, Understanding Dementia.
Maintenance In house maintenance carried out in purpose built workshop facilities managed by Chief Engineer Robert Gibson. Vehicles safety inspected and undergo roller brake testing every 14 days.
Members of BUSK Benchmark, Confederation of Passenger Transport, Road Operators’ Safety Council (ROSCO), Association of Local Bus Managers, Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, Scarborough Chamber of Commerce, East Riding Transport Partnership, Ryedale Transport & Access Partnership, Hull and York Quality Bus Partnerships. Independent and locally owned, any profits are re-invested into business to maintain safety standards.
East Yorkshire Motor Services was formed in 1926 and since 1997 is now a family-owned company, based in Hull and with depots in the East Riding and Scarborough. EYMS runs about 300 buses and coaches and employs almost 700 staff, running an extensive network of bus routes and home to school contracts throughout these areas, and since before the war has operated a substantial fleet of coaches on private charter, holiday tours and day trips. For many years EYMS has been a major supplier of coaches and drivers on the network run by National Express which demands very high quality standards, being regarded by NX as one of its top operators.
